Tasmanian oak is a premium Australian hardwood timber encompassing three species that grow in the mountainous areas of Tasmania. Heartwood pale to light brown in colour with a pinkish tinge. Sapwood is pale yellow, usually distinguishable from the heartwood. It is well known for its staining qualities which means you can easily match it with other timbers, finishes and furnishings. It planes, sands, finishes, and glues well. This also makes Tasmanian Oak ideal for internal joinery applications, furniture, and toys.
